AMD Sempron 2200

AMD Sempron 2200

"The AMD Sempron 2200 type Thoroughbred is a Socket A Processor operating at 1500Mhz, has a Front Side Bus speed of 166Mhz and 256K L2 Cache. The AMD Sempron 2200 supports MMX+, 3DNow+ and SSE."

FEATURED REVIEW

"The Sempron 2200 is a fairly good budget processor which retails for only $48 (£32). Just like the Sempron 3100 the 256K L2 Cache does hurt performance with some software like Xpand Rally for example. It is good to see AMD releasing such good budget processors for Socket A motherboards and the Sempron range is superior to the older Duron range. The problem for the Sempron is the Athlon XP 2500, the XP 2500 is a very popular, fast processor which is still available for a little more than the Sempron 2200. If you check the reviews you will see that the Athlon XP 2500 manages to put a fairly large distance between itself and the Sempron 2200. It is also worth noting that the Athlon XP 2500 can usually be overclocked to XP 3200 speeds for a huge performance increase."
