AMD Athlon64 3000

AMD Athlon64 3000

"The AMD Athlon64 3000 type Venice is a Socket 939 Processor operating at 1800Mhz, has a Front Side Bus speed of 200Mhz and 512K L2 Cache. The AMD Athlon64 3000 supports MMX+, 3DNow+, SSE, SSE2, SSE3 and x86-64."

FEATURED REVIEW

"The Athlon64 3000 Venice has a number of features not present with the Sempron 3100 or even the Socket 754 Athlon64. These benefits include an enhanced 90nm process with SSE3, better memory compatibility and lower operating temperature. The Athlon64 3000 performed well and outperformed the Sempron 3100 when using synthetic and games software. However I was left slightly disappointed with the Athlon64 3000 because I expected more, compared to the Sempron 3100 the Athlon64 3000 has twice the Level 2 Cache and an improved memory controller but these didn't really show very much of a performance increase. The Athlon64 3000 is 25% ($30) more expensive than the Sempron 3100 but the results don't show any great performance increase over the Sempron 3100 to justify it's price. The Athlon64 3000 is a good processor with good performance but if the Sempron 3100 was available for Socket 939 I would be hard pressed to recommend the Athlon64 3000!"
